The shopper number allows you to simply associate all your filings to a single mailing tackle. Having a customer quantity eliminates typographical errors or variations in addresses that can make it difficult to receive patent search engine correspondence from the USPTO. If you're a registered legal professional or patent agent, or a person granted limited recognition, then your registration quantity or limited recognition quantity must be associated together with your customer number. That is accomplished by adding your registration number to the shopper Quantity Request type. Practitioners must also notify OED of any changes to their contact data within 30 days of the date of the change. See 37 C.F.R. § eleven.11(a). The OED page has more information. Anticipate about one to 2 weeks for processing. Once you obtain an e-mail from USPTO letting you already know you're a registered person, you could opt in for 2-step authentication.
