How a VC Can Affect Your Heart

The heart's rhythm is usually controlled by a group of fibers located in the upper right part of your heart. This is called the sinoatrial nerve, or SA. Electrical signals travel to the lower heart chambers or broken ventricles.

Causes

PVCs happen when the electrical impulse that normally begins your heartbeat in a part known as the sinus node (also called the sinoatrial or SA Node) doesn't. Instead, the impulse is generated in a different part of your heart--the ventricles--and causes a mistimed beat. These extra beats are also called ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation. It could feel as if the heart beats faster or feels like it is fluttering.
